After weeks of uncertainty about his job, Lucien Favre has been confirmed in his position at Head Coach at BVB Dortmund for another season. Sporting Director Michael Zorc announced that Favre will be the coach for 2020-21, despite rumours that his time was coming to an end after somewhat tamely surrendering the Bundesliga title (again) to Bayern Munich following the latter’s 1-0 victory in der Klassiker at the Signal Iduna Park shortly after the restart in May. Rumours further intensified after an embarrassing 2-0 home defeat to Mainz last week. However the club is clearly in a safety first mode following the disruptions of this season and not looking to make any significant changes in personnel. Zorc himself had his contract extended beyond the end of next season earlier this week as the club goes with a “tried and trusted” leadership team in charge of sporting performance.
