BVB and Wolfsburg spat
An unseemly war of words has broken out following Borussia Dortmund’s surprising 4-0 home defeat to TSG Hoffenheim between BVB and VfL Wolfsburg. After Andrej Kramarich scored all four of his side‘s goals at the Signal Iduna Park, Hoffenheim moved above Wolfsburg into 6th, consigning the latter to taking part in two rounds of qualifying for next season’s Europa League. VfL’s president Jörg Schmadtke made some thinly veiled critical remarks about the result in Dortmund, to which his opposite number at BVB, Hans Joachim Watzke retorted “I’d keep my mouth shut if I’d lost 4-0 myself”, referring to the defeat Wolfsburg suffered at Bayern Munich.
